Christie is one of our stellar account managers here at Interact. She's an incredibly hard worker and is always good for a hilariously witty quip in any situation. We were able to snag some time with Christie in one of her many "offices" to learn a bit more about her.
Tell us a little about yourself.
I grew up in Connecticut, but left to go to college at Colorado College and graduated in 2012. After college I moved to New York City for a job but found my way back to Colorado in 2015. New York was amazing but I missed Colorado. I love that here in Colorado I can get out of the city whenever I want. I can work a full week then head up to some of the best mountains in the world to go skiing on my weekends. I also enjoy, fishing and running when I catch some free time.
Why did you choose to work in packaging design/what do you like about the industry?
I like that I have the opportunity to work with really creative and talented people because I myself am not the most creative person. Working within this industry has also helped me develop and eye for design. I also love this industry because I get the opportunity to work with small and large brands (from startups to larger conventional brands). This industry really keeps me on my toes as it is ever evolving and fast-paced….. I am never bored.
What is the ideal client? Why?
The ideal client is someone who doesn’t over direct but rather puts trust in our team to know what's best. It’s also exciting when I get to work with a client that has a product I resonate with and can personally stand behind. An enthusiastic and passionate client is always a plus too because I often feed off my client’s energy.
What is the best part of your job?
The team. Our team is crazy talented, there is no deadweight. Everyone in this office brings new perspectives, insights and talents to the table keeping work fun.
What is the worst part of your job?
Truthfully, sometimes I feel like I am spread too thin with the array of projects we are working on. I really believe that each client project is unique. While we have a standard process that we follow, we also like to customize our process to the needs of our clients, and that customization can be time consuming.
What is the biggest misconception about your job?
People think that there is a hard line between account and design. At some agencies there is but at Interact we have a very integrated team. Not only am I tuned into what’s going on from an account side but I also work to be involved with the design side as well. When time permits, I try to be involved with as much of the entire process (from start to finish) as possible. Whether that be me helping generate ideas, or being active in brainstorming sessions, et cetera. Interact doesn't put up a wall between teams, we work cross functionally in order to deliver innovative and unique results.
Tell us about your desk space.
I have a variety of desk areas or as the team says “offices”. I need to get up and be moving, I am more productive when I have a change of scenery. I don’t like to be confined to one space/desk. I work in a variety of places: on the roof, one of the three couches, at the cafe downstairs, or even on the grass out front.
We’re incredibly proud of our team members here at Interact, and are thrilled to get to share with you some little snippets into who we are beyond the work we do. Stay tuned for next month’s edition!
